I was gonna take a break from things, but In the like one day I was gone I did nothing but think. And I’ve come to the conclusion I no longer want to be a part of any of this.

I have become disgusted by all of it and I no longer wish to be a part of it and hope to never be associated with any of it. It was nice getting to know people out there on the internet. But you merely knew a persona of someone who pretty much lied a lot and in those lies got lost in who he actually was.

The internet is an odd beast, I feel like it has really become the single most important invention in the world. Because it is as dangerous as the most dangerous weapon ever created. It can completely ruin society or save it. But I think the way it is now, as this unregulated entity which runs all of our lives is scary. Because it means it has no limits.

Limits are needed.

But without them the internet can destroy, I mean “revolutionize” any industry. It can make life easier at the sake of our freedoms. It can bring us together through algorithms which analyze what we post. It can devalue art or make an artist globally known. It allows for physical mediums to be virtual. And it allows for money to be obsolete when we as a race are not ready all thanks to having no limits.

I think by being part of the piracy game for over a decade now the freedoms I enjoyed by having everything now are wrong. We shouldn’t have everything now. But because I needed everything now I skirted on the lines of unwritten law into morally grey areas. This was a line probably all of us walk in an effort to consume content and media needlessly. Though we completely ignore the consequences, and those consequences are just too, unsettling.

As someone who loves irony, I understand it’s importance. Like the arsonist who has his house burnt down in a brush fire I understand these consequences have led to the problematic entity that is the internet. That fire isn’t something to play with. Because I needed media now, people exploited that and made me connected to everything now. Those exploitations led to what the internet is, a goldmine of data for people to profit from.

I am sick of devaluing art and being profited off. A post like this shouldn’t be something someone other than myself makes money from. And in short that’s all social media is, someone making money at your expense. It’s disgusting and solely a creation based off the need for us to need everything now. And I don’t need everything now. None of us do. We took advantages of our freedoms on the internet and now it i being rubbed in our faces. It’s shameful.

And at times I wonder what it’s all for you know. If everything is consumed for free it means the time spent getting it and obtaining it and listening to or consuming it is worthless. Is my time on this planet worthless? Well what I say and like is making someone else rich but I mean, am I not meant to do something more? Or is spending 4 hours looking for a link to an obscure piece of media the pinnacle of achievements in my life? OR is reblogging a really cool image and getting other reblogs the most social interaction I will have this year?

I don’t want that, I don’t.

It’s all fake, it’s not a new way of living or a new life. It’s just like Adam and the apple. He bit the apple to become wise, but after all of it he was still blind. My actions on this internet are sealing my own fate, I may have learned more information in this time than people used to in their whole lives. But is it worth my freedom? Is it worth my future? Is it worth devaluing my life? Is it worth destroying the very things I like?

I enjoy having the ability to buy anything I want though, I wish that never goes away. Through hard work I will have my rewards. Selfishly taking and taking and taking under the guise of sharing is something I can’t bring myself to do anymore.

Piracy taught me one thing, nothing is free, it’s a double edged sword where something eventually becomes taken. Piracy is a constant grey area that will just create that. A grey civilization where nothing has value. Everyone will have everything and it will mean nothing. All while every word we say is stored and monitored thanks to our own paranoia and fears. The internet could have liberated us from these problems. But instead we wanted the benefits now instead of thinking how they would effect our future. Like Apollo’s love, we were just too good to bow down even if it cost us eternal bliss.

I don’t want to be part of that debate anymore. But sadly I will because that very debate will completely change mankind. It’s odd how repercussions work, I just wanted to interact with music. I did, and I abused a good and honest tool for my own benefit like so many others. Now that same tool is condemning me and the world and ruining my interactions with music.

All these bleak and scattered thoughts brought to you by insomnia and caffeine.

But really I dislike what the internet has become. IT was fun back when it was just some message boards where people talked about what ever and poorly coded java/macromedia flash sites which were more of an inconvenient novelty. No one took it seriously. It wasn’t a business, it wasn’t a government tool. I think the day all the social networks are done and piracy goes back to being underground and people get up and off their couches to interact and consume media the world will be a better place.

Until then our laziness, greed, gluttony, vanity and other traits will doom us. We will constantly pour information into social media. Governments and companies will take that information for their own selfish needs and they will use them to abuse us.

I just want it go away, be simple, be something you get made fun of for using. I wish my phone’s web browser was still a useless feature. I wish… Oh well, none of it will happen. We will continue to use social media and wait for someone else to do something. Until that someone is also waiting for someone else and nothing gets done. Now it isn’t like I am advocating that I do something. It’s just the cycle we entered. I only care about myself at the end of the day, but sadly my actions are determined by others, things like societies, economies, foreign and all. It’s scary. In that way we are all one.

One world of people constantly wanting to know nothing except what other people are doing. The government is just the worlds biggest tabloid, now that we are on the other end of the papparazi we don’t like it. How funny that is, oh irony~
